A little about Boerne
Taking a stroll down Main Street will find you taken back to Boerne's German Heritage. You will find the arts, great shops and dining truly unique to Boerne. Originally built around the cool clean waters of Cibolo Creek the original ecosystem has been protected in the form of a 100 acre preserve with 4 distinct areas, marshland, grassland, river bottom and woodland.
The history of Boerne
Boerne came into being as an offshoot of the Texas Hill Country Free Thinker Latin Settlements, resulting from the Revolutions of 1848 in the German states. Those who came were Forty-Eighters, intellectual liberal abolitionists who enjoyed conversing in Latin and who believed in utopian ideals that guaranteed basic human rights to all. They reveled in passionate conversations about science, philosophy, literature, and music. Since then Boerne has been home to the arts and was a well known health resort destination while maintaining the the architecture of its founding members.
